What Does the Fawkes Say?

By Amara Ngozi

I don this mask in protest,

I become anonymous,

I hide from tears of liberty

dispensed by canister.

I am hidden behind the face of the people

and I am the face not afraid to be seen.

If you can breathe the free air,

remember the filter-fed taste of our resistance

and the façades we put up to tear down others.
