VOLUNTEER Positions
Internships
In collaboration with the senior staff team, Blueprint Interns will have the opportunity to assist in editing written submissions, formatting visual submissions, helping with production, and assisting in the promotion of new issues and events. Interns will have the opportunity to get their feet wet and develop their skills with a variety of different aspects of the publication, so an enthusiasm to learn is important for this position. We will try our best to suit projects and assignments to Interns’ interests.
Writing Team
The Writing Team is managed by the Literary Editor, who will be sending reminder emails to Members about upcoming submission deadlines. Members are required to submit at least one written piece per issue to maintain their spot on the Writing Team (unless due notice is provided to the Literary Editor). Members are given the opportunity to experience the world of publishing first-hand by working with the Literary Editor to complete the writing, editing, and copy-editing process before the final piece is published.
The above position requires a portfolio of the applicant’s best-written work. Applicants must submit their resumes and a portfolio of their best-written work. Please include 3-6 pages of original written content (poems, short stories, articles, etc).
Visual Content Team
Similar to the Writing Team, the Visual Content team is managed by the Visual Content Manager, who will be sending reminder emails to Members about upcoming submission deadlines. Members are required to submit at least one visual piece per issue to maintain their spot on the Visual Content Team (unless due notice is provided to the Visual Content Manager). Members are given the opportunity to contribute to the magazine by providing enticing images based on current themes that will be published as visual cues alongside the magazine’s written work.
The above position requires a portfolio of the applicant’s best visual work. Please include 3 examples of whichever medium you create: drawing/sketching, painting, photography, digital art. If you work with multiple art forms, please include one example of each.
Events and Marketing Team
The Events and Marketing Team is managed by the Events and Marketing Manager, who will be sending reminder emails to Members about upcoming content posting and events. Members are expected to help spread the word about Blueprint and any events that will put on and help create content for social media posting and promotions for new print issues. Members are given the opportunity to experience the world of events and marketing, including social media posting and event planning/organizing.
The above position requires a resume and any examples of social media content creation or events planning.
Video Content Team
The Video Content Team is managed by the Video Editor, who works alongside the intern to make videos for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The videos can include information regarding an upcoming issue, launch parties, trailers/teasers, etc. Because Blueprint Magazine is published on paper, the video content team allows artists who create content through videos to feel part of Blueprint and Laurier’s artistic community.
The above position requires a resume and any examples of visual content.
All Applications and Platforms must be sent to editor@blueprintmagazine.ca.
